Thank you for your interest in the Columbus Eagles FC Foundation!

The Columbus Eagles FC created this Foundation to provide a means to raise funds to help provide opportunities for female youth soccer players that otherwise would be unavailable to them.

In the US, youth soccer is provided on a “Pay to Play” model where players pay clubs in order to get the soccer instruction they need to be able to play the game at the highest levels. This model is good for the clubs as they never need to demonstrate their ability to properly train players. Players pay, and they play, regardless of their abilities or potential.

This structure is not suited for those players who come from humble backgrounds and may not have the ability to pay the fees the clubs require or, maybe more importantly, these players may not have parents who can take the time to get them to the training grounds or to matches. In the US, the game of soccer is for the upper-middle class or higher whereas in the rest of the world, players can help bring their families out of poverty if they have the ability to play the game.

We want to level the playing field and make soccer accessible for all! The Columbus Eagles FC Foundation raises funds to be able to provide club fees and transportation services to/from training and/or matches to players that while they have the ability to play, they don’t have the ability to pay.

Sometimes it’s just the ability to be able to attend a high level match like the US Women’s National Team, a NWSL game or even a local Columbus Eagles FC match. Exposure like this to the game helps a potential player be able to see the game and learn from that experience.

We hope that you might consider making a donation to the Foundation to help us reach our goals. We are a 503c charity and as such your contribution may be tax deductible (please consult your tax advisor).
